About the project
Four functional districts of SEZ «Alatau»
SEZ «Alatau» was established in 2023 on the territory of the new city of Alatau in the Almaty Region, along the Almaty–Konaev highway, and is divided into four functional districts.
Gate District
The business and financial centre — a natural northward extension of Almaty and the new financial core of the region.
Golden District
The education and healthcare centre — a science and innovation cluster with universities, clinics and R&D.
Growing District
Innovation-industrial and trade-logistics zones, together with the new international airport and dry port.
Green District
The centre of culture, tourism and leisure — part of the regional tourism cluster near the Kapshagai reservoir.

The New Silk Road
Kazakhstan is reviving its historic role as the largest business and transit hub of Central Asia — a bridge between Europe and Asia — and SEZ «Alatau» is becoming its new centre of gravity. The main Central Asian route of the New Silk Road runs about 6,500 km, of which 4,000 km cross China from the Pacific coast to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
